"You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you" .... how romantic! It came on so gradually. I was in the middle before I knew I had begun".
One day, when looking back on their various misunderstandings, Darcy quietly said, “I am glad we have them.” Elizabeth looked him in the eyes and asked him what he exactly meant. “Misunderstandings.” She watched his lips while he said this and was suprised this word, so avoided, was said by Fitzwilliam. “My dear love, can this be true? You, who avoided this
abominable word the most, you, Mr Darcy, are saying it? And moreover, you, as you just said, are
glad we have them?!
This must be a misunderstanding itself or I do not know you well enough, eventhough I am your wife!” she said teasingly. Darcy gave one of his characteristic smiles which made Elizabeth think of the past. Instead of feeling ashamed or uncomfortable, she felt nothing of the sort, no indeed, she felt comfortable! “Time, my dear Lizzie, can change a lot of things,” he said while he walked to one of the windows. “Oh, my dear, you know well enough what those misunderstandings were and how we acted! You are teasing me! The smile you just gave me, how you are standing there, you want me to think of those long gone days!”. “I cannot disagree with
you.” Elizabeth laughed and walked towards him. She took his hand and looked out of the window. “And I do not mind if you want me to,” she said. “You know, our acquaintance had been formed because of those misunderstandings. To be more precise, our entire acquaintance had been formed by the fact that I did not acknowledge that I loved you. Do you know that? I was ashamed of my conduct, but I am not anymore.” Elizabeth looked at him and she saw truth in his eyes. “Without all those misunderstandings,” he continued, “if we had been acting completely different, we should not have been here, all would have been different.” “Well, I hear you are glad to have me as your wife then, I shall take that as a compliment,” said Elizabeth giggly. Darcy gave one of his smiles again and kissed her forehead. “You are my most precious possession.” He knew the word possession would make Elizabeth say something sarcasticly, and that is why he had chosen it, but rarely enough, Elizabeth did not say anything at all. She laid her head upon his shoulder and threw her arms around him. Elizabeth could have thought of a thousand sarcastic responses, but she felt like the happiest woman in the world by being his most precious possession. “You know I love you,” Fitzwilliam said and together they watched their little Henry playing in the garden.
Is Darcy niet super romantisch hier?!
Greetings,
Lisette
